6.256 'Twas Guud

Happy New Years Eve! I know what you're thinking... why am I posting a blog post instead of getting ready for New Years?? Well, it's because this New Years, I've decided to spend it in the comforts of my own home. It'll only be me since the family all have plans, but the Mister will swing by in the evening after he's done work. My game plan is to have take-out pizza, champagne, and a movie.

I hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas and Holiday Break. I'll be sharing my Christmas post at a later date. Today, I thought I'd share a dinner the Mister and I had with a friend, a coworker of ours, since he will be leaving to visit his home country for a couple of months. I also have collective haul dating back to October which includes sales from Bay Days, Black Friday, and random purchases.

We ate at Guu since our friend has never been.

We ordered the usuals: Unagi Doria, Okonomiyaki, BBQ Pork, Karaage, Takoyaki, Kakimayo... and a couple of new things for us was the Karubi, which was a bit odd because of how they cut the short ribs, it was also a bit tough too, and the pork belly which was on the specials menu.

We also ordered the Bamboo Sake. I tasted it, and woah... too strong for me. The dinner was nice, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

After dinner, we walked ourselves over to Nathan Philips Square to check out the gigantic Christmas tree (the lights on one side weren't working). We also saw the ice rink with plenty of people skating on it. We didn't have time to skate though, as we had to head home. Dinner was nice and I'm glad we got to take him out.

And now onto the collective haul portion of this blog post.

This Vero Moda coat looks a bit funny in the picture, but trust me when I say, it looks better on. It's nice and warm, and the best part was that it was only $70!! I got it on sale during the Bay Days at The Hudson Bay. Actually, there's a little story that goes with this coat. I first saw it being hauled in a youtube video and immediately thought that the coat looked really nice for a great price. Unfortunately they were sold out of my size online so I ordered the medium hoping that it might fit. It turned out to be too big, so I returned it. I was pretty sad, even the saleslady even asked me why I was returning such a beautiful coat. Luckily, the coat was back in stock online for a brief period before it sold out completely. I was sooo happy because I was in the market for a heavy duty winter coat.

Along with the Bay Days sale, I got these super adorable HBC toques with the fur pom pom. When we visited the Distillery District, I saw a couple of girls wearing toques, one with an Olympic toque matching with her boyfriend, and another wearing this HBC toque (shown right). These toques were on sale for $20 each, and so, I bought them in both colours... because I'm insane.

And then there was a great Black Friday sale at Aldo's. I have been eyeing these shoes for quite some time- since summer! I remember shopping with my cousin hoping that one day they would go on sale.

This pair of flats is called "Rozen". Super cute on the feet, very classy looking. The stock photo on the website doesn't do it any justice as it looks more cheap and less elegant than it actually is.

This pair of flats is called "Olyvia". The Mister loves these, as do I. They're made of leather, which is a total plus in my books because they last longer and feel more comfortable. What makes these pair more special is that it's my first brown anything... I've never owned a pair of brown shoes, boots, not even a bag! I was just never attracted to the colour brown, but I see the potential now.

These Zara jeans were not on sale, but they were way too nice not to get. I only own one other pair of Zara jeans that I really love, and I started to wonder why I didn't own more Zara denim. These pair are unique in that it has a double seam going down both legs that make them super flattering. I love the colour, the back pockets, the fit, and the zipper at the bottom. It's pure perfection.

Another non-sale Zara item are these leggings. I like them because they have this bandage detail where the knee is which I thought was nice. FYI, I'm obsessed with Zara leggings because I like how substantial the fabric is and the detail and design that goes into them.

I got this BKR glass water bottle at Blossom Lounge when I visited the Distillery District. I first came to know about this water bottle through Michelle Phan's Desktop Favourites video. I've been looking for a glass water bottle that was safe and small enough to carry around in my bag for when I'm thirsty on the go. This seemed perfect.

I spotted this Gwen Stefani Collection nail polish set at Winners and was totally mesmerized by the glitter nail polishes. I don't own a gold polish "Rollin' in Cashmere" so that was a nice addition, the white glitter nail polish "Snow Globetrotter" reminds me of a winter wonderland, and the dark glitter nail polish "Comet in the Sky" reminds me of the cosmos. They're so pretty!! I can't wait until the day I quit my job and can wear polish on my finger nails again.

I took advantage of 20x the points at Shopper Drug Mart and got these new Dior lip balm hybrids. I got "Lili" #558 and "Coquette" #660. Being a cross between lip balm and lipstick, they seem to have a really nice balance. They have great colour pay off and they feel moisturizing. One day I will do a comparison between these and the YSL and Chanel ones I have.

As a VIB Rouge member, I got the $30 off a $50 purchase promo at Sephora. I decided to get something that I could really use in my makeup collection. So, I got the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in "Diffused Light". There were so many raves on these Ambient powders, and for the longest time, I could not figure out for the life of me which one to get! But after Claire and Chloe mentioned in their videos about loving the Diffused Light, I was finally sure which one was for me. On a side note, I also redeemed 100 points for the Deborah Lippmann glitter polish.

You guys... I totally get the obsession over these Ambient powders. It's such a beautiful powder! I love using it as a highlight because it has the tiniest most micro shimmers I've ever seen, that when applied, is more of a glow than a shimmer. I can also use it all over for an overall glow. It's such a unique makeup product and is a must in every makeup collection.

And that concludes my collective haul for now! Have a Happy New Year and please remember to drive safe.

6.255 Christmas Cheer

I can't believe Christmas is in 1 day!!! Where has the time gone?! I honestly didn't feel the Christmas cheer until I went to work today. People were smiling, coming together to wish everyone and their families a Merry Christmas, gifts were exchanged, and the company hosted a Christmas dinner for the employees. It was great! The food this year was much better than last year, I enjoyed the pasta and chicken and the desserts were delish.

This is the awesome rolls of wrapping paper I got from Target last year for 75 cents each ($2 for the premiums) if I remember correctly.

I was done my Christmas shopping and wrapped all of my presents before December even came :D I think that is my best record yet.

I thought I'd share my Christmas decorations in my room. It's just a touch but I'm sure in the coming years it'll get a little out of control...
sometext
Here is what it looks like on top of my dresser. I have my little Christmas tree I've shown you before, the little deer holder on the plate, and this beautiful new addition, my Stag Head!

I was watching ThatsHeart's makeup collection video and saw that she had this beautiful Stag Head in her room. You guys know how much I loveee antlers. I've been trying to find the perfect pair of ceramic antlers or deer head that I can hang on the wall (preferably something that didn't look realistic). When I saw hers in the video my jaw dropped as she mentioned she got it from Target. Problem is, she's in the U.S., and a lot of times the things that are available to them are not available to Canadians. I've been to Target before and looked through their Christmas decor and saw no such thing. So I quickly go to the American Target site and saw that they had it on there. Unfortunately they don't ship to Canada so my dream of having it was quickly squashed. About a couple weeks later the Mister and I are at Target and lo and behold, I see the Stag Head on the shelf!! I was so determined to have it that we bought it even though we would have to carry it all the way downtown (we were at Square One in Mississauga and we were suppose to head to downtown Toronto afterwards).

We made it through the whole day...

...until the Mister knocked the ceramic Stag Head twice as we were getting off the last bus to go home. Not going to lie... I was really upset. I only found out the ear got broken off after he left my house. I gave him a pretty hard time... that poor bear. I can get a little intense sometimes, and let me tell you, it's not pretty. I know that it's stupid to get worked up over something like this, especially since he even promised to buy me another one (I was just afraid that it was going to be sold out). It didn't help that I was getting frustrated at trying to fix the ear with craft adhesive glue- which, not surprisingly, ended up not working. I know it's not the right type of glue (you're suppose to use epoxy glue) but it was late at night and I just wanted it fixed.

Thankfully he did end up finding another. He even asked a sales associate to check the back and to get him two just in case one had a deformity (he knows how picky I am when it comes to getting something in perfect condition).

He's such a sweetie bear, I honestly don't know how he deals with me sometimes. I admit, I'm not the easiest person to be with, that's for sure. I'll be fixing the other stag head and I think I might paint the antlers gold on that one.

sometext
Also on the dresser is my mason jar candle from Bath and Body Works. I spruced it up for fall/winter by adding acorns and pinecones.

sometext
Next to my dresser is my night stand. I bought the colourful Christmas lights at Dollarama for $2.50 I believe. These lights scream Christmas for me, I really love it. I hope next year to extend the lights so that it goes across my bed board or hang some on my curtain rod.

sometext
Above my bed on my picture ledge is the snowflake lights from Dollarama that I've shown you before. I also hung candy canes on it to make it more festive.

sometext
The card in the picture frame this month is a Christmas card I got from the Mister last year. It's seriously such a pretty card. Cards can act as a beautiful art piece if you just frame them. I like changing them out according to the time of the year (ie. Christmas, Birthday, Valentines, etc). I also have a couple of beautiful black and white Christmas cards from Coach and my cousin that I have sitting on the side.

sometext
Then on my window ledge I bought this silver glitter small leafy branch from Dollarama. I also have a festive pinecone at the far end.

sometext
Then back round full circle, my super cluttered table located beside my closet. I have my WoodWick candle burning and another festive pinecone.

I also have this glass filled with yummy kisses and hugs. It's so festive looking that it makes me happy when I look at it haha.

sometext
Then I have the snow covered pine branch that I love and got last year from Dollarama, and the new additional Christmas lights from Dollarama too ($1.25!!).

sometext
And since we're on the topic of decor, check out this super cute bird dish I found at Marshalls! I had no idea what I was going to put in it when I saw it (still don't have a clue) but it was too cute to pass up. I seriously need to stop buying decorative dishes and bowls because I think I have enough as it is.

sometext
What can I say... I have a weak spot for WoodWick Candles :S They're seriously my addiction. But these smelled so good!! "Tea time" and "Afternoon Rain".

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. I hope you surround yourself with family and friends and enjoy as much as you can.

6.254 I'm a Little Tea Cup

A couple weekends ago the Mister and I visited Yorkdale mall. We haven't been there in ages so it quite a treat.

One of the stores I especially love to visit is Anthropologie because they have the nicest things there.
sometext
sometext
I mean, aren't all of the things so pretty? It's dangerous when I come here because I always want everything. I didn't even catch some of the things that I now see in the photos while I was there, like that cute blue and white teapot, because there was way too many things to look at.

sometext
The one thing that did catch my attention on the shelves were these super elegant teacups- Ariodante Cup and Saucer. I really wanted two so I can stack them like this... but these weren't cheap so I settled on getting just one.

I asked them to gift wrap it because I was a long way from home and bought some fragile things. I liked the pun on the box. I think I'm going to really enjoy drinking out of my new teacup :)

sometext
The other things I got were these fantastic coasters in the sale section. They ended up being around $2 each after the extra discount on top of the sale price. Steal!

sometext
sometext
Then after walking around and looking in awe at all of the expensive stores from the outside lol... we went to Famoso, the Neopolitan Pizza Restaurant that we visited last time we were at Yorkdale back in January (omg has it been that long?!).

sometext
You write down what you want and go to the front to order. After you place your order they come and serve your food like any other restaurant. I like how you can see the pizzas being cooked in their fire oven.

sometext
And just like last time, we ordered the Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella Balls. This time I could actually make out the balls in the sauce haha. I think last time it was so hot it kind of just melted. It also came with the flatbread which I forgot to include in the photo.

sometext
We decided to try something completely different this time, something totally unique where pizza is concerned. We decided to get the Korean BBQ Pork Pizza new for the menu for Fall and Winter. It was the Mister who suggested it which was quite surprising since we both like to stick to the classics. It was pretty bomb. It tastes exactly like Korean BBQ but on pizza! So weird because we're used to savoury not sweet pizza, but it still was really good. I brought the left overs to my home and my siblings all liked it.

sometext
Then dessert... of course Tiramisu because it's the best tiramisu I've had! This time the presentation is so much better! The last time there was no chocolate sauce or whipped cream. Soooo good. I really recommend this tiramisu, it's a must try!

As you may know, I love watching itsjudylife's vlogs. Every year in December Judy and Benji raise awareness and help fundraise money through their #Dancember campaign for a chosen organization. This year their chosen charity is Rescue:Freedom, an organization dedicated to rescuing and helping victims of human trafficking. Sexual slavery is a global problem- something I really take to heart. I can't even begin to fathom the lives that are stolen from these individuals, having to be put under such horrific conditions against their will. Judy and Benji have already met their goal of $100, 000, but it's still ongoing until the end of December. Every dollar counts. Freedom is a right everyone should have. So please, spread the word and if you can, donate: https://fundly.com/dancember.
